President of US-China Foundation (USCF) Larry Lee arranged a special travel to NY city to follow up the related issues of the NYC events of Oct. He visited the local advisers and members of USCF during the 10 days and received very positive feedback and valuable advices. 
On July 2, Larry Lee met the senior officials of Chinese Consulate General in New York. On July 3, Larry Lee met the director of Lincoln Center Jack and Jack expressed his best wishes and expectation to this grand activity and promised to provide the first-level service, and then they signed the contract together. Next day, Larry Lee met the executive director of USCF Mr. Jesse Watkins and reached the agreement. He also met the president of National Committee on United States-China Relation Mr. Stephen Orlins and Stephen expressed his interests & support to the events. At the meantime, Larry Lee met Ms. Li Ningyu of China Institute and had a pleasant talk. 
At 3:40 pm, on July 9 (US local time), Larry Lee met with Dr. Kissinger
again at Dr. Kissinger’s office in NYC. They had a very pleasant meeting together. Dr. Kissinger recalled his meeting with Larry at the same office in 2000. When Larry mentioned the exclusive interview for Dr. Kissinger by BQ in January in Beijing, Dr. Kissinger was very happy and would like to see the report titled “Kissinger- Alive History”. When Larry expressed his regret of forgetting bring the newspaper, Dr. Kissinger said:”No worry. I understand.” After that, Larry introduced the details of the NYC events in Oct. and Dr. Kissinger pleasantly accepted the invitation, as the honorary chairman of this activity. When talking about USCF issuing him the life time award of Outstanding Sino-US Friendship Contribution, he said repeatedly, ‘It is my great honor!’ When Larry Lee asked about his advice on USCF NYC events, he said frankly, ‘You have hosted many major events and have rich experience; I believe that your NYC events will be a great success!’ After the meeting, Dr. Kissinger and President Lee had a photo taken together.
Larry Lee flied back to Beijing on July 10. On July 11, he met a director of a mainstream press group and reached agreement on the all-round framework cooperation. On July 12, Larry Lee had a meeting with the Honorable Chairman and General Adviser of USCF Ambassador Chai Zemin, and Ambassador Chai Zemin said he would like to fly to the US for this activity. In the next day, Larry Lee had the chance to meet Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong at Ambassador Chai Zemin’s home. They talked over an hour and Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong expressed his great support to the activity. On July 14, Larry Lee met Ms. Hu Qihua, the chief of the liaison section of China Daily and she expressed that China Daily was happy to be the designated media partner of this activity to expand the impact of this series of events.

“The Light and Shade in the Eyes of a Diplomat---Global Tour of Hua Jinzhou’s Photography Exhibition” co-organized by the United States and China Foundation, BQ, China Arts&Entertainment Group and China International Cultural Communication Center, toured to the Hua Art Museum in Shenzhen and the opening was held on 25 July 2009, 10:30am. Shenzhen is the 4th station of this global tour exhibition. The success of the tours in Hainan, Shanghai and Beijing greatly promoted this exhibition in Shenzhen. The hundreds of photos presented in this exhibition was taken by Mr. Hua Jinzhou during his decades of diplomatic career. These photos reflected his passion for nature, life and beauty, showing him as a photographer and artist. This week-long exhibition attracted many photography fans and received widespread attention by local media. 
On 28 July, a working conference for discussing the related issues on the NYC events in Oct. was held at the Beijing office of White&Case. The attendees included: the president of USCF, Larry Lee; the director of Beijing Office of White&Case, Mr. Li Xiaoming; the former chairman of National Committee on United States-China Relations, Mr. John Holden; the former China’s consul general in Houston, Mr. Hua Jinzhou; the director of the Finance&Investment Department of China Arts&Entertainment Group, Ms. Ding Ming. This meeting developed a general framework for the activity and the representatives of these parties have expressed confidence in the success of this grand series of events.
