congratulations

As an old Chinese saying goes, "it takes up to 10 years to sharpen a sword"; the US-China Foundation has spent 10 years building a friendship bridge across the Pacific ocean. The exchange activities range from politics, economy, culture, media, judicature, and education to environmental protection. I have often heard from my friends that it's a miracle that the US-China Foundation, as a non-profit organization, is able to exist and develop. The miracle is thanks to the participation and support of the many American and Chinese people, especially our members and staff, who are involved in enhancing the friendship between China and the US. I have thoroughly enjoyed working together as a team toward this goal and am very pleased with the success that has been achieved by USCF. It is my wish that the US-China Foundation will continue over many years with its work in promoting friendship between the people of the two countries, which will contribute to peace and future development in the world. Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to contribute the lyrics of a song I wrote to the whole staff and members of the US-China Foundation, and also to those Americans and Chinese who are working hard on enhancing the friendship between the two countries.

Mr. Larry L. Lee, Executive President of the US-China Foundation.

I wish to congratulate Larry Lee for his vision and determination in the creation of the United States China Foundation. His inspired leadership over the past ten years has allowed this Organization to succeed and flourish over this period in an ever-changing world. I am honored to be associated with Larry and the USCF. I look forward to joining with him and the many others who work for the betterment of relations for our two great nations. May the achievements of the next ten years surpass those that we celebrate with this anniversary!

Mr. Jesse J. Watkins, CEO of Jamison Insurance Group, New Jersey; Board Chairman of International Insurance Association; Executive board member of US-China Foundation

Congratulations to the United States and China Foundation on its tenth anniversary. USCF is a unique non-government organization that has fostered improved relationships between the United States and China. USCF should be lauded for broadening the cultural and artistic understanding of our two countries on many levels and for enhancing mutual educational opportunities. I wish you good luck for the next ten years.

Dr. Ernest J. Scalberg, the Senior Advisor of US-China Foundation, Vice Dean of Monterey Institute of International Studies and Dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration, the founder of the BIMBA in Beijing University.

It has been an honor to have served as legal advisor and counsel to the United States and China Foundation for the last decade. The urgent, noble purpose of the Foundation is no less important today - perhaps more so. Relations between our nations have warmed and cooled over these 10 years but never has the need for greater understanding, cooperation and communication diminished. As the Foundation continues to bring together business people, artists, government officials, and other internationally-minded individuals, the world will be the better for these efforts. Best wishes for another decade of success!

Mr. David Robinson, Attorney at Law; Advisor at law of the United States and China Foundation; B. S. Foreign Service Georgetown University; J. D. George Washington University.

I wish to offer my congratulations to Larry Lee on the tenth anniversary of the United States China Foundation. He is to be applauded for his far-sighted evaluation of the importance of a cordial relationship between the U.S. and China in the fields of business, art, cultural pursuits, and education. His tireless efforts have established this foundation as a viable and important entity in working toward the goal of understanding and cooperation between our two countries. It has been a privilege and a pleasure for me to serve on the board of USCF, and I look forward to an on-going opportunity to work with Larry and the Foundation in the future. May the success of this worthwhile and unique organization continue throughout the years ahead.

Robert McAfee, Special Senior Consultant of World Bank; B.S. Stanford University; MBA Harvard University.

Congratulations to the United States/China foundation on its tenth birthday. As a lecturer and consultant in China for three decades, I am very impressed with the work of USCF. Its executive staff is both competent and committed. China and America are destined to be the Superpowers of the 21st Century. The USCF has a critical role to play in ensuring that Chinese/American relations are built on mutual respect and are committed to peace and economic prosperity. I had the honor of speaking to the USCF conference in Shenyang last August. It was clear from that meeting that USCF commands great respect in both America and China.

Mr. Billy Wireman, Board Chairman of the US Queen institute; Executive Committeeman of the US Bank American.

Congratulations to the leadership of the USCF for achieving 10 years of bridge building relationships. As more and more people simply view on tree at a time and limit their focus, organizations such as the United States and China Foundation attempt to connect with the entire forest by viewing all aspects of synergy contributing to total well-being. An overview perspective is a healthy perspective. I wish the USCF a healthy and successful future.

Jim Sobieraj, President of American Exchange, Inc.

My family has been fortunate to have been associated with Larry Lee, LiLi, since the 1980s when he attended Duke University Graduate School .As a loyal American who has worked with USCF since its inception, I am proud of what has been accomplished in the first decade. More important we are all excited and enthused about what we believe is possible to accomplish in the next decade. USCF is a very important piece of the overall plan. Without USCF China, the United States, and the world, could be in a more dangerous place facing Mutually Assured Destruction. My friends, USCF is building understanding, bridges instead of bombs, trust instead of fear, mutual assistance and progress toward a more peaceful, open, and equitable world.

W.M. "Bill" Harrison, the Senior Advisor of US-China Foundation, Chairman of Harvest Investment Corporation the famous banker.

The USCF means much to China and the United States. In our likenesses and differences, we come together as one people when we develop cultural and educational programs. My role as Director of Medical Programs has not been an effective one---perhaps this area needs more time, or is too far removed. Still, my association with the foundation is a happy one, and I hope it will benefit the existing purposes. We should all congratulate Larry and his staff for their visions and high purposes in bringing our two countries closer.

Eugene V. Grace, M. D. of USCF.

As the 21st century commences, the whole of humankind is facing more and more global challenges, including climate changes, loss of biodiversity, environmental deterioration, and depletion of natural resources. To solve these problems, people in different countries need to collaborate, have to collaborate, and must to collaborate. In this area, US and China could work together and must work together. People share tremendous common goals and interests, and our cooperation can make a difference. I am glad that the US-China Foundation has demonstrated its vision and identified the ecological and environmental area as one of foci to build bridges between the two countries. In the last 10 years, USCF has made great achievements in many areas. In the future, I believe firmly, USCF will make a significant contribution in ecological education and environmental collaboration between US and China. Congratulations.

Mr. Quan Dong, Environmental Scientist at Miami International University.
