News Letter of USCF for October 2008

1. In 4th October, USCF President Lee and his special assistant Zhang Jiang had a dinner together with Mr. Chen Zuohuang, art director of National Grand Theatre at Suzehui. Both parties had pleasant discussions on the details of cooperation and set up strategic partnership.

2. On the evening of 13th October, USCF President Lee met with Liu Jiren, chairman of Neusoft and introduced USCF’s friend and partner, well-known calligrapher Wang Shanli to him. And they exchanged their views on further cooperation at the meeting.

3. In 15th October, USCF President Lee and his special assistant Zhang Jiang met with Zhang Chen, associate editor of Beijing Youth Weekly. At the meeting, both parties had a detailed discussion on the media strategy and reached a consensus on this issue.

4. On the 24th October, USCF President Lee and his special assistant Zhang Jiang cordially received Zhang Songlin, standing vice director of Hainan Provincial Propaganda Department and administrative director Yang Wei, and they had discussions on Hainan 2009 New Year Concert.

5. In late October, USCF members Jessie Watkins and Michael Bianco made their remarks on the US Presidential Elections. Their remarks were posted on our website, and received enthusiastic responses from internet viewers.

6. In 25th October,USCF President Lee and Xu Jian, USCF Executive Director, also a associate lawyer at Shenzhen Rong Guan Law Firm attended the 30th anniversary celebration of students being admitted into Renmin University in 1977 and 1978. On behalf of all alumni, Xu Jian delivered a speech at this gathering.

7. USCF Senior advisor on academic research was honored by Norway 's Ludvig Holberg Memorial Fund in September 16, 2008

DURHAM, NC -- Duke University’s Fredric R. Jameson will receive the fifth annual Holberg International Memorial Prize, the Board of the Ludvig Holberg Memorial Fund announced Tuesday in Norway. The professor of literature was cited for his many contributions, grounded in literary studies, to cultural theory and cultural studies, hermeneutics, architectural and postcolonial theory, aesthetics, film and television studies, and history.

The prize, worth $900,000, will be presented Nov. 26 at a ceremony in Bergen , Norway . It is awarded annually for outstanding scholarly work in the fields of the arts and humanities, social sciences, law and theology.

Professor Jameson is one of USCF’s supporters and senior advisors at its very beginning; he was also USCF President Larry Lee’s doctoral advisor at Duke University .
