1, A crew of 8 persons from a well-known US film company came to China for filming a documentary reflecting the theme of 2008 Beijing Olympic from November 2 to November 12 through the coordination of USCF. This film company having official authorization from US Olympic Organizing Committee，specializes in producing documentaries associated with Olympic theme.
This company had produced many documentaries promoting Olympic games such as “A TOUCH OF GREECE”, “A TOUCH OF TORINO”, etc.
This company has a close relationship with PBS. The documentary made in China this time would be broadcasted on over 270 TV stations within PBS network; the number of viewers of this documentary would reach over 400 million.
The crew visited Shanghai, Hong Kong and other cities in China many times covering major events and their production won “Golden Eagle Award” and the nomination for “2007 Emmy”, etc.
The work of the crew in China received great support from Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee, Beijing Municipal government, Shenyang Municipal government, Neusoft Group, Winland Plaza , Renmin University , Opera College of China, Chinese Painters’ Village and Beijing Wenjin hotel.
The crew filmed the important buildings to be used in 2008 Beijing Olympic and exclusively interviewed main officials from Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee.
The crew also filmed Beijing Forbidding Palace , Great Wall Tiantan, Renmin University , Winland Plaza , Opera School of China, Shenyang Olympic Stadium, Shenyang Forbidding Palace , Beiling Park and Neusoft Group etc.
The documentary recorded the efforts and achievements made by China in the preparation of 2008 Beijing Olympic; reflected the whole picture of current Chinese society.
This documentary would be scheduled to be broadcasted at the
beginning of 2008 and introduce in advance the set-up of Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee and the introduction of culture and development in Beijing and Shenyang to viewers in US and Canada and attract more tourists in North America to attend 2008 Beijing Olympic and visit China. This document would be presented to US Olympic Organizing Committee and all of players to take part in 2008 Beijing Olympic.
On November 13, the crew successfully finished their job in China and flew back to US.
2, An old friend of USCF, the former president of US, Mr. George H. W. Bush Senior celebrated his presidential museum’s reopen by the way of bailing out.An old friend of USCF, the former president of US, Mr. George H. W. Bush Senior who is 83 years old celebrated his presidential museum’s reopen by the way of bailing out on November 10.Bush was in the a team with the drillmaster of the paratroops and they bailed out together. They flied in the sky freely. The drillmaster behind reminded him to coordinate his body. Bush waved his hands and legs in the sky and he seemed very relax. The colorful spray around made Bush very active. Bush was approaching to the ground when the ballute opened. His wife Mrs. Barbara Bush clapped to welcome him.
3, The year of 2007 marks fifteen splendid years for the United States and China Foundation. With the help from more than seven thousand members and friends in both China and America and with the efforts from all of our staffs, USCF has made great achievements in 2007. These achievements include that we opened USCF Houston Office in March; we successfully organized “Redwood--A Sino-US Friendship Evening”--A Celebration for the 35th Anniversary of the Sino-US Shanghai Joint Communiqué; former United States president Nixon’s Visit to China-- soprano Julia Zhu Concert in April; US-China Entertainment Group whose shares are totally held by USCF was set up in May in the United States. Again on June 25th, Redwood Concert was successfully performed in Poly Theater in Beijing. In November America Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) completed an hour-documentary film about the Beijing 2008 Olympics. The film will be broadcasting on more than 300 televisions in North America in 2008.
The United States and China Foundation transcends the pacific and bridges the hearts of both peoples. Our long term mission is to build another bridge between China and America, promote the communication and cooperation between the United States and China in various areas, including economic, business, cultural, technological, etc; and to strengthen the mutual understanding and friendships between the Chinese and American people. In order to extend our deepest gratitude for the firm support from all of our friends, and as the new year is coming, on December 7th, the United States and China Foundation held our annual cocktail reception in a five star hotel in Houston.
Approximately 150 guests came to the reception. They are influential people in politics, economics, culture, education, technology, entrepreneurship, environmental protection, and mass media and they are friends who have significantly contributed to the development of the China and America’s relationship. They are all sincere friends of the USCF. Our guests include leaders from the Consulate-General of China in Houston, Chinese governors, congressmen or congresswomen, prominent entrepreneurs from Houston, and investors and special guests from China. The reception was a platform to create better understanding and communication, make more friends, and seek cooperation opportunities among the peoples. Thus, this proceeding would promote better joint development between China and America.
We believe that with the generous support from our friends during the reception, in the next year, our foundation can more excellently and creatively contribute in developing the cooperation between Houston and China.
4, President Larry Lee met with the leader of BOC recently. On the afternoon of November 13, 2007, president Larry Lee and Art Director Julia, Jiali Zhu met with Mr. He Zhen liang who is the vice Chairman of the IOC and BOC in the office building of BOC and handed the song “One World One Dream” to him. Chairman He highly evaluated the song and expressed that he would recommend the song to the related departments of BOC.
5, Larry Lee, President of USCF, Mr. Anderson, President of a US well-known investment company, a member of USCF Friendship Association, flew to Dalian, a beautiful coastal city in China's Liaoning Province, in the morning of December 21, 2007. At 10:30 am, Xia Deren, Mayor of Dalian City met with Larry Lee and Mr. Anderson at Dalian city’s government building. During the meeting, Mayor Xia outlined the investment environment in Dalian and showed his appreciation to the continuing efforts made by USCF in introducing international investors into Dalian . After the meeting, Larry Lee and Mr. Anderson visited a private company in Dalian.
In the same day afternoon, officials from Financial Department of Dalian Municipal government met with Larry Lee and Mr. Anderson. Both parties exchanged views on the projects such as assisting financing and IPO for private companies; introducing strategic partners in Dalian financial institutions and other projects. In the evening, Larry Lee and Mr. Anderson concluded their successful visit in Dalian and flew back to Beijing together. Su Ning, USCF's Chief Rep. at SY Office, and other officers of this US company also attended the visit and meeting.
6, On November 24, President Larry Lee flew to the US to inspect the work there and attended the biggest exhibition of medical apparatus and instruments in the world and made related work for the Houston reception on December 7.
7, On Novmber28, Our president Larry Lee met with the US Senator Mrs. Hillary Clinton in the US . President Larry Lee sent a gift - the writing work “Jin Cheng Suo Jia, Jin Shi Wei Kai” – Consistent hard working will break gold and stone, which was written by a famous Chinese calligrapher, Zhou Hongxing, who is one of our senior advisors in culture and calligraphies of USCF, to the Senator. The Senator Hillary Clinton very was pleased to accept the calligraphy and said that she remained a happy memory on her previous visits to China , especially for attending the World Women Conference in Beijing in late 90's.
