News Letter of USCF for April, 2006

On the evening of April 13, 2006, Larry Lee, president of USCF, who just returned from America, came to Shenyang to inspect USCF Shenyang Office. On April 14, Larry said, at the meeting chaired by him, USCF’s member institutions, American financial institutions had great interest in cooperation with USCF in financial sector. USCF has established a well-known brand in the two countries in many exchange programs of various sectors over the years, enjoying better reputation, having many new opportunities for development. Larry Lee urged every staff to make great efforts to create a brighter future.

On April 14, Larry Lee had a meeting with Zhang Mei, deputy director of Shangyang Bureau of Foreign Trade and Cooperation. They had a comprehensive discussion on the project of Shenyang International Industrial Park.

At the noon of April 15, Larry Lee had a meeting with Mr. Zheng, manager of Liaoning Kanghui Travel Agency. They exchanged views on sector of overseas tourism and had a dinner together.

On the afternoon of April 15, Larry Lee had a meeting with the owner of a well-known hotel in Liaoning Province and discussed the financing of the hotel in detail.


On the afternoon of April 15, Larry Lee had a meeting with Mr. Song Yugui, senior art advisor of USCF, a painter, who is well-known for his Chinese mountain and water painting. Mr. Song presented Larry with a collection of his latest paintings. 

On the evening of April 15, the officials of China Bureau of Railway and Tunnel Construction entertained Larry Lee. They had a pleasant talk about their past time and friendship.

On April 16, Larry Lee flew to Shanghai and had a meeting with Qiu Shengyun, director member and standing vice chairman of USCF, his wife; and Mr. Song Ding yuan, who is in charge of USCF Shanghai Office. They had discussions about the work of USCF Shanghai Office, focusing the USCF Shanghai Office’s work on sectors of trade and finance.

On April 17, Larry Lee and Mr. Song Dingyuan had a meeting with Mr. Philip Zou, who returned from the US to set up his own business in China. In the evening, Larry Lee attended a dinner hosted by Mr. Sang Binxue, an associate of JunHe Law Firm and a well-known lawyer. Larry Lee also met with a professor of finance from Canada and Doctor Ye Longsen during the dinner. 

On the morning of April 18, Larry Lee had a meeting with Mr. Zhang Danian, an associate of US law firm and a close friend of Larry’s. Also, Larry Lee and Song Dingyuan were invited to attend a dinner hosted by ZhengDa Group. Both parties had discussions on many projects for cooperation and agreed to have further discussion in Atlanta, US on May 20.

On the afternoon of April 18, Larry Lee and Song Dingyuan had a meeting with the chairman of a petroleum company. They exchanged views on bilateral cooperation. In the evening, Larry Lee had a meeting with Shan Jingxuan, president of a property company in Shanghai and had a dinner together at the restaurant owned by Mr. Philip Zou. 

In the afternoon of April 29th, 2006, Mr. Qiu Shengyun, the former PRC General Consul to New York City and Houston, was invited to the Beijing Rep. Office. Together with the Office Staff, both old and new, Mr. Qiu made a brief speech concerning his abundant work experiences in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and those in America. After that, he talked with the new staff and answered their questions sincerely.

Mr. Qiu is also the present USCF executive director and administrative Vice-chairman. With his joining as a member of our Foundation, we got together; and collogue about the past and presence of USCF. Mr. Qiu told us a lot about the Sino-US relations since they established diplomatic relations. Then he spoke highly of the contribution USCF had made to the bilateral relations. It was USCF that further improved the relations during the good times, and helped them relax during the hard times. Mr. Qiu put forward the expectation that the USCF would continue its work of committing to building a bridge of friendship across the Pacific Ocean. At last, he congratulated to the USCF New Staff Recruitment and the location transfer of its Beijing Rep. Office.

Larry L. Lee, the Executive President of USCF summarized the colloquia by encouraging people to exploit new means of development, expand the present team, take advantage of the originality with the help of Media, so as to further promote the friendship between the peoples of China and the United States.
