News Letter of USCF for July, 2004

In the early July, Ms Julia Zhu, well-known soprano, supervisor of Art and Culture Exchange of USCF participated in the CCTV Young Musician Contest. She won in the preliminary and semi-final contest, would take part in the final contest on CCTV 3, which will be broadcasted live on the evening of July 12. Ms. Zhu won the prize of “Screen” issued by Ministry of Broadcasting and Radio and two prizes of “Promising Young Musician” issued by China Disk Corporation and Liaoning TV Station in her first national contest. The song named “Princess Wen Cheng” sung by Ms. Zhu is original one and quite hit among Chinese viewers. (See more details about it in the article entitled The Song “ Princess Wen Cheng ”below.)

On July 26, Larry Lee, president of USCF and Su Ning, manager of Investment Department of USCF met with the head of China Development Bank Shenyang Branch in Shenyang. Both parties exchanged views on projects such as water treatment of the Liao River. During the meeting, Shenyang Branch of China Development Bank expressed that they would be willing to participate in the 2005 Liaoning International Environment Protection Forum to be organized by USCF.

On July 27, Larry Lee, president of USCF, Jiao Yan Qing, assistant to president of USCF, and Su Ning, manager of Investment Department of USCF were invited to examine the investment environment in Shenyang Agriculture Development Zone. Larry Lee expressed appreciation for the rapid growth and pleasant investment environment in the development zone and would consider the feasibility of investment by USCF in the development zone in the future.

On July 30, Larry Lee, president of USCF met with Ms. Jenny Guo, chairman of China Section of Chicago World Trade Center.They exchanged views on bilateral cooperation. Both parties showed great interest in long-term cooperation. After the meeting, Larry Lee invited Jenny Guo to have a dinner together.

The plan for 2005 Liaoning International Environment Protection Forum to be organized by USCF would be known to the public. Chai Zeming, Advisor General of USCF and Liaoning Provincial officials determined the scheme during Chai’s visit in Shenyang. USCF was invited by provincial officials to make this draft. This forum will be more magnificent in scale than 2004 Shanghai International Environment Protection Forum.
The winner of Nobel Prize, high-ranking officials and experts on environment totaled 1000 in number would attend this forum. The award for international environment protection would also be issued at this forum.
