News Letter of USCF for Jan-Feb, 2004

1. On January 8, Mr. Larry Lee, President and Executive Director of US & China Foundation, flew to Dalian to meet with Dalian Municipal Education Bureau officials and have a further discussion on China International University. Some Related Dalian universities' presidents participated in the meeting and showed great enthusiasm on the project of China International University. 
2. On January 18, USCF Chinese New Year Banquet held at Beijing Jindu Jiuyuan Culture Entertainment Center. Senior consultants of USCF, Mr. Chai Zeming, Mr. Qin Huasun, Mr. Jin Yongjian and Mr. Zhang Yijun were invited to attend the banquet. The president Larry Lee reviewed the whole year’s achievement, especially the program of "Shanghai International Environmental Protection Forum in 2004" and China International University project in details, which won all participants' highly praise. All consultants put forward their suggestions for the USCF development.
3. During the Spring Festival, we received many greeting letters and emails from our American USCF members. They expressed their warmest regards and best wishes to all Chinese colleagues and friends of USCF. 
4. On January 8, President Mr. Larry Lee and Mr. Nick Clements, USCF senior financial consultant flew to Shanghai and had a further discussion with Shanghai coordinator on the preparation of "Shanghai International Environmental Protection Forum in 2004". 
5. In late January, Mr. Sun Chuanwen, Chief Representative of USCF in China, flew to Shanghai and stayed over two weeks for the preparation of "Shanghai International Environmental Protection Forum in 2004".
6. On February 5, USCF president Mr. Larry Lee and Mr. Nick Clements, USCF Senior Consultant, general coordinator for a former US leader visiting China, had a sincere talk with Mr. Han Pingping, Director of American & Atlantic Dept., and Mr. Tang Duocan from Northern America & Atlantic Dept. in Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs about US’s former leader’s visit in China and "Shanghai International Environmental Protection Forum in 2004".
7. On February 13, Mr, Sun Chuanwen flew to Shandong Province to have widely contact with famous local environmental enterprises on future cooperation.
8. February 13, Mr. Robert McAfee, USCF Executive Director, Senior Consultant of World Bank and Asia Development Bank, and Ms. McAfee had a banquet dinner with Mr. Larry Lee, President of USCF and Ms. Julia Zhu, Supervisor of Culture & Art Exchange Dept. of USCF. They had a further discussion about such topics USCF was focusing on as Chinese enterprises’ oversea IPO, venture capital, “Shanghai International Environmental Protection Forum in 2004”, China International University, etc. 
9. On February 15, Mr. Larry Lee, President of USCF, and Ms. Julia Zhu, Supervisor of Cultural & Art Exchange Dept. of USCF, invited by China Conservatory Institute, met with Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the Institute and discussed the events of international exchange. Both parties agreed to enhance cooperation and let outside world know more about Chinese Traditional Music.
10. On February 17, Mr. Larry Lee, President of USCF, met with Mr. Li Xiaolin, Vice Chairman of Association for International Understanding of China, and Mr. Lu Xiaochuan, Deputy Director of American Office of the Association at the Vice Chairman’s office and discussed the details of a former U.S. president attending “Shanghai International Environment Protection Forum in 2004” organized by USCF. Mr. Sun Chuanwen, Chief Representative of USCF in China, and Ms. Julia Zhu, Supervisor of Art and Exchange Department of USCF also presented the meeting. 11. On February 18, Mr. Larry Lee, President of USCF, and Ms. Julia Zhu, Supervisor of Art and Exchange Department of USCF, met with Mr. Ren Zhikuan, Dean of Training School of Ren Min University, Mr. Lu Xiaochuan, Director of Training Office of China Journalist Association, and Dr. Hu Baijing, professor of Journalism College of Ren Min University. During this meeting, three experts gave advices on establishing an international university in China.
12. In late February, Mr. Sun Chuanwen, Chief Representative of USCF in China flew to Dalian, had a further discussion with local enterprises and made progresses on mutual cooperation. 
13. On February 24, Mr. Jiang Changming, General Manager of Tianshi Media Group, and his assistant treated Mr. Larry Lee, President of USCF, and Ms. Julia, Supervisor of Art and Exchange Department of USCF. Both parties exchange views on cultural and media cooperation.
14. On February 28, Mr. Larry Lee, President of USCF met with Mr. Wang Ming, President of Shanghai Gaoke Group, and Mr. Zhou Qin, President of Beijing Jinwei Company. They had a comprehensive talk on the cooperation.
15. In January and February, Medscan, in which USCF holds shares, is doing well and gained many orders in the U.S. Many investors have invested in Medscan and they are optimistic about the prospect of Medscan. 
16. By the end of February 2004, USCF had received many calls from well-known officials and environment experts from domestic and overseas. They showed great concern and enthusiasm on “Shanghai International Environment Protection Forum in 2004” organized by USCF on April 19. Many of them have registered to attend this important, international forum.
