On Oct. 27, the Executive Director of US-China Foundation, Mr. Larry Lee flew to America, and arranged Mayor Chen Zhenggao’s visit to America. Mayor Chen and his delegation met with Mr. Kim Russell, president and financial supervisor of American MedScan International Company and Mr. William Harrison in Washington, D.C. The two sides held talks on bilateral cooperation. The cooperation between American MedScan International Company and Shenyang Neusoft Group, is a collaborative effort. It will put Neusoft in the American market, making digital medical equipment, and will achieve annual sales of fifty million US dollars. A banquet followed after the meeting. At the banquet, the guests and the hosts toasted frequently for friendship between China and America， and wished Shengyang a promising future.
On Oct. 29, the investment advisor of US-China Foundation, Mr. Jiao Yanqing, and Ms. Julia Zhu went to Shanghai to discuss the future US-China Forum, 2004 to be held in Shanghai. The trip was very timely and was greeted with much enthusiasm by all those involved.Mr. Larry Lee, Executive Director of USCF, met with Prof. Jason Shi and other educators of well-known American universities. They discussed the international university project.
On Nov. 4, the ophthalmology advisor of USCF, Dr. Gene Grace arrived in Shenyang to hold talks with the related companies on the ophthalmology project that is underway.The investment advisor of US-China Foundation, Mr. Jiao Yanqing, and Mr. Warren Su, manager of USCF’s Investment Department and their group went to Dalian on Nov. 4 and 5, to discuss the establishment of the Dalian International University project. Other universities in attendance were Dalian Science and Engineering University, Dalian Maritime University, Northeast Finance and Economic University, Dalian Medical University, Dalian Light Industry College, Liaoning Normal College, Dalian Foreign Language University, Dalian Nation College and Dalian University. The project is currently underway and will be established in the very near future.
Mr. Larry Lee was invited to attend the conference on Global Economic Development Declaration held in Zhu Hai city, Guang Dong province, on November 6-7. Vice-premier of the State Council, Ms. Wu Yi, was present at the opening ceremony, and made a speech on mutual Benefit and Cooperation, Speeding Up Development, Creating Resplendence Jointly. Mr. Cheng Siwei, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Chairman of the organizing committee, presided over the ceremony. During the two-day conference, principals from the ministries and commissions involved, discussed the new tendency and the problem of world economic development. Also discussions included how to develop international cooperation, promoting joint development and prosperity based on equality, honesty and faith, cooperation and development. Business leaders from 30 countries, delegates of international economic organizations, experts and scholars, total over 1000 people were also in attendance.
Alternating between the end of the year and the New Year, the US-China New Year’s Concert of 2004 is being prepared. US-China Foundation, and the Foreign Culture Exchange Association of Liaoning province and Liaoning HengShan Culture Club, will offer an exquisite concert symbolizing the friendship between China and America. The artists, both from China and America, will perform with passion and give their New Year’s greetings to the audience with elegant and melodious cantus and sincere blessing. This is the combination of classical verve and modern mien, the symphony of the history and the future, the chant of the two great nations friendship, and also is the interior sympathy for all those in the music circle. The 2004 US-China New Year’s Concert will be a sonata to welcome the New Year’s arrival, and to welcome the first wisp of 2004 through the vast twilight and the galaxy.
