Despite sweltering summer days, the US-China Foundation is becoming more and more prosperous every day and the work of each department is efficient and rewarding. Our head office in New York city has done a great deal of work for preparing the new session of the US-China Forum and it is very successful. Many important guests from the US, including former President Bill Clinton and George Bush, all positively responded our invitation and showed their sincerity of the near future.
At the end of May, the Operation Supervisor Ji Hongjun and the Public Affairs Supervisor Shao Fenglei went over to Qingdao to participate in the preparatory work of the US-China Forum the Third Session at the invitation of Qingdao Municipal People’s Government. In Qingdao, they were met by the top officials of Qingdao Municipal People’s Government and other personages of all circles. Qingdao Vice Mayor Zang Aimin talked with the Executive Director Larry Lee on questions of this forum.. Qingdao Daily also reported it on time. Through the hard work of the staffs of the head office and domestic offices, the number of the American honorable guests who have confirmed to attend the forum have reached over 30.
Having known this forum, Shenyang Municipal People’s government showed their great interest and hoped the forum to be held in Shenyang during Shenyang International Equipment Manufacturing Exposition for the purpose of improving the popularity of Shenyang in the whole world and creating business opportunities for Shenyang. Meanwhile, the surrounding cities e.g. Dalian, Anshan also showed their active interest to this forum. So the forum will be held mainly in Shenyang and the main topic will be the US-China Investment Forum (Finance, Law, Commerce, Trade, Consultation,etc. are included), Mayor Forum (Sustainable Development of Modern Cities and Cooperation of the cities of China and the US), US-China Entrepreneurs Summit, Legal Knowledge Lectures.etc.
On June 18, the US-China Foundation Executive Director Mr. Larry Lee came all the way back to China to attend the Overseas Shenyangese Forum held at Shenyang Loyal Moriotta Hotel. In the forum, Mr. Larry Lee made an important speech, introducing the experience of developing overseas and his ideas to the construction and development of Shenyang. On June 22, Mr. Larry Lee attended the activities during “The Liaoning Overseas Students Pioneering Week”in Dalian. In this activity, the eager desire to come back to serve our motherland was expressed by the participants. Mr. Larry Lee reported to the Provincial Governor and the Chief Leader of Provincial Party Committee the recent work of the US-China Foundation and the progress of the important construction projects headed off by the US-China Foundation. The work of the US-China Foundation was approved and supported by the leaders of Liaoning Province.
In June, the Art & Culture Exchange Department did a large amount of preparatory work for the the performances of the American country pop group “Pete”,Opera Treasures (Svetlana Strezeva, Ioan Pojar, Anna Vikre and Rod Nelman), “Prince of Violin” Howard Zhang, including making performance plans and programs, getting touch with the related performance departments, applying for the permit and looking for the performance places. In addition, the Art & Culture Exchange Department has begun to arrange the large-scale evening “Shenyang, Moving Towards the World”.
The Investment Service Department provided consulting service to the drainage project and technical exchange of Shenyang-Dalian Highway Reconstruction project, importing tunnel excavators from America, investment in China of the US Vedazyme Biological Medicine Technology Inc.. The Department helped to promote the usage of automobile tail gas equipment for environmental protection and saving resources. In addition, the medical consultant of the US-China Dr. Gene Grace gave the professional training to the doctors and nurses of the ophthalmologic item, marking the medical items of the US-China Foundation have come to a new stage. The transnational consultative center of the US-China was established smoothly. The relative advertisement has appeared in the Liaoning Broadcasting & TV Newspaper and got wide attention.
The International Exchange Department mainly completed the organization and material preparation work for the Fushun Economic Development Zone Group before they left for the US and started the preparatory work for the Liaoning Culture Group. The activities of summer camp in America and the American college students coming to China are also placed on the agendas. In addition, the International Exchange Department completed a large amount of translation work for other departments.
