1. On the Morning of Sep. 25th, Ambassador Chai Zemin and his wife visited the United States and China Foundation Shenyang Office and delivered an important speech. Ambassador Chai is the first Chinese ambassador to US. He is now 85 years old and is the General Advisor of the Foundation. When seeing the whole employees standing in front of him, Ambassador said with feeling: " There are two reasons that the Foundation has achieved so much. One is that Mr. Larry L. Lee who is the Executive Director of the Foundation, directs correctly, and the other is that all of the workers here work very hard. I should learn from all of you." Ambassador Chai's words show that he is a modest person. He told us that he seldom traveled, every time he had chances to travel, the only thing he considered was just his work and as a result, he always returned to work earlier than expected. Meanwhile he emphasized that being a staff, he or she should work hard for the Foundation and be devoted to the work of the Foundation since the importance of the works of USCF. Only one has done all of these, work can be done well. Nowadays Ambassador Chai is very healthy and active, just as an old Chinese saying goes: A man becomes strong and healthy when he does not have any personal desire.
2. At 5:30Pm on Sep. 25th, the United States and China Foundation held "Welcoming Ambassador Chai's visiting Shenyang and Moon Festival Reception". During the Reception, the hall on the third floor of the Golden Hotel was full of people. The guests attending the reception included Mr. Liu Ketian, the governor of Liaoning Province; Mr. Lv Yihuan, the mayor of Shenyang; Mr Zhang Ruming, the Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Province; Mr. Angus T. Simons, the Consul General of U.S. to Shenyang and all other social celebrities or members of USCF Association in Shenyang.
After the reception began, Ambassador Chai gave a speech first. He said that he appraised and supported the Foundation very much and hoped that USCF would be better and better in the future. He also showed that he wished the Foundation would be devoted to set up friendly relationship between China and US and promote the friendship more.
After Ambassador Chai's speech, Mr. Larry L. Lee delivered a speech and toasted to all the guests. He was grateful to all the friends and also expressed his feeling on receiving hundreds of calls to comfort him when the headquarters of the Foundation at 83rd floor of One World Trade Center disappeared during the tragedy of "9.11". After that Mr. Angus T. Simons gave an inspiring speech with his pure Chinese accent. "Ambassador Chai is a really important figure in the history of Sino-US relation," the Consul General said.
After the speeches, excellent programs started. The programs began with a piece of melodious music. And then Ms. Julia J. Zhu, the Art Director of the Foundation sang a song whose name was "people say that Shanxi Province has beautiful scenery", for Ambassador Chai's hometown is in Wenxi County, Shanxi Province. After that, Wang Tianju, a young saxophonist performed a piece of music "Going home". At last the program of acrobatic show "Kicking bowls" put the reception to the climax.
