After seeing the great success of the First Session of the "US-China Forum" in the spring of 2000, we firmly believe that China and US have the same desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields. To meet this requirement, USCF will hold a Second Session of the Forum. The venue chosen is the HYATT Hotel in San Jose, California, located in the leading place of world technology: "Silicon Valley". The forum will take place from July 20 to 22, 2001.
The topic of the present session of Forum is "Striding Into the High and New Technology Era together". In addition, according to the expanding tendencies of US-China relationships as well as at the request of the representatives, another topic is "Sino-American relation in executive prospective".
The US-China Foundation's Shenyang Office held a large Press Conference for the Second Session of the Forum at the Golden Hotel on May 29. More than 40 people attended the Press Conference: Ms. Sheila Packman, Consul for Press and Cultural Affairs of Consulate General Shenyang; Ms. Dong Dianfang, Director of Foreign Affairs of Liaoning Province; Mr. Duan Fujun, Director of Shenyang Foreign Affairs; Mr. Xu Yanhao, Vice-president of Shenyang Association for Science and Technology; Ms. Xue Weihua, Shenyang Science Committee. The representative of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology also participated in the Press Conference.
Mr. Zhao Feng, who is in charge of the Forum, directed the Press Conference. At the Press Confrence, Mr. Larry L. Lee, the Executive Director of US-China Foundation, introduced the First Session of the Forum briefly and the prepration of the Second Session of the Forum in detail. Mr. Shao Fenglei, who is the special assistant of the Executive Director, announced the news release on the Forum. Director Duan Fujun, Vice-president XuYanhao and others gave speeches representing the honored guests. Many journalists from various news organizations inquired alternately. Liaoning TV Station, Shenyang TV Station, Liaoning Daily, Shenyang Daily, Businesstimes, Huashang Morning Paper, Liao Shen Evening Paper, Shenyang Evening news, altogether made up the 9 news organizations in attendance at the Press Conference. After the Conference, Shenyang TV Station's reporter conducted a special interview with Mr. Larry L. Lee, the Executive Director of US-China Foundation. Everyone expressed their hope that the USCF would further contribute to exchange and cooperation between the U.S.A. and China, and wished the second session of the forum complete success.
On the following day, Shenyang Daily, Businesstimes and other media groups ran their reports on the Press Confrence.
Following the success of the Shenyang Press Conference, the US-China Foundation held Beijing and Shanghai Press Conferences for the forum on June 5 and June 12 respectively. The US-China Foundation is sure that the two will be just as successful and informative.
