News Letter of USCF for January&February, 2000

USCF had a very busy and successful month in January as well as so far this month. Thanks to the efforts of our members, we are moving toward a promising future for our Foundation.

1. Our Foundation Executive Director Larry L. Lee was invited to attend a farewell meeting in January for Mr. Qin Huasun, former Chinese Ambassador to UN. During the meeting, Larry gave a wonderful talk to Mr. Qin. Mr. Qin expressed his gratitude to our Foundation for the work we have done for all the Chinese people in the states. He also indicated his willingness to continue working in the future with USCF since he will be included in the diplomatic commission of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Committee of PRC.

2. At the end of January, we invited two delegations to visit USA from China. The Purpose of their visit was to enhance the friendship between the people of China and USA. The two delegations were the China Funds Delegation and the Young Pianists Delegation. Both of these in the States and gave our Foundation high praise for our work.

3. Since February 5th to 20th was Chinese Spring Festival, we hosted a banquet on February 13th at the Peking Palace, which is located on Park Avenue. A lot of our members and friends attended this activity, including Mr. Li Chuanjie, General Manager of the Bank of China New York Branch and his wife, Mr. Li Decai, General Manager of Bank of Communications New York Branch and his wife, Mr. Howard H.S. Zhao, Mr. Chen Ranfeng and his wife, Ms. Lillie Tang, Mr. Song Yugui, Mr. Chai Liang and his wife, Mr. Li Shanquan, Vice-president of Oppenheimer Funds and his wife, Mr. Liu Kang, Mr. Li Xiguang, Mr. Zhang Zhengping, and all the members of Young Pianists Delegation. All the young pianists played each piece of music at the party. Their brilliant performance received enthusiastic applause from all of the attendees.

4. On February 8th, Larry had a short meeting with Mr. Liu Xiaoming, Chinese Ambassador to USA.

5. On February 9th, Ms. Chen Xiangmei met with the Young Pianists Delegation. During the meeting, children gave a short performance to Ms. Chen and their skill was much admired by her. Even though the time was quite short, everyone had a great time that afternoon. Mrs. Li, the wife of the Chinese Ambassador to USA was also there during this visit.
