USCF held a musical reception in Beijing to greet the Chinese New Year 2010--- The Year of Tiger

An annual reception given by USCF every year to greet the Chinese New Year was held at the newly opened Xiange Qing Hotel adjoining China Cultural Ministry in Beijing on Jan 31, 2010, 4.00 pm.

USCF friends, old and new, present at the reception, wished USCF would

expend more rapidly in 2010 and A Happy Chinese New Year to all members and advisors of USCF!

The guests attending the reception included:

Chairman of Art Commission of National Center for Performing Arts, Senior Advisor of USCF, and former President of Central Conservatory of Music, famous musician Mr. Wu Zhuqiang; former Consul General of Chinese Consulate in New York City , former Vice Chairman of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs , and Senior Advisor of USCF Mr. Qiu Shengyun; former Consul General of Chinese Consulate in Houston and Senior Advisor of USCF Mr. Hua Jinzhou; Member of Chinese Communist Party Commission of Science and Technology Ministry of China and Chairman of Science and Technology Daily Mr. Zhang Jingan; Director of News Bureau of State Council Information Office Mr. Guo Weieimin; Chief Editor of People’s Literature Press Mr. Guan Shiguang; Chairman of Beijing News Mr. Dai Zhigeng; Head of North America Department of The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Mr. Xie Yuan; Director of HSBC Mr. Ben Shenglin;

Chairman of Chitian Xiangrui Technology Co. Ms. Liu Xiangli and manager Mr. He Yongqing; world-famous violinist Sheng Zhongguo and his wife; and well-known piano educator Mr. Tang Liuyi, etc.

First, USCF President Larry Lee, in his opening speech, he thanked all guests of honor for their attending at this reception and the great support to USCF over the years and he also explained the programs to be carried out by USCF in 2010.

The guests present at the reception highly praised the achievements done by USCF and would do their best to assist with USCF to achieve more in 2010. And they were grateful for inviting them to the reception and hoped that they could have more chance to participate in the USCF programs.

Although now some unharmonious sound emerged again in the Sino-US relations, but everyone agreed on the remark made by USCF General Advisor Ambassador Chai Zemin: Sometimes the moon is full, sometimes it is curved; the sincere friendship between Chinese and American Peoples can weather the storm.

Then reception carried on in the accompaniment of the beautiful melodies played on the piano by well-known piano educator Tang Liuyi’s two students, a lad, Zhou Wutian, aged 16, a young lady Ma Hong, aged 21. The very pleasant songs sung by two students of Central Conservatory of Music for Ethnic People, Miss Zhang Shuai in her second year at the university, and Miss Peng Fan in her fourth year at the university, brought the reception to its climax.

All guests appreciated the songs and the music very much. Mr. Sheng Zhongguo and Mr. Wu Zhuqiang also made some very helpful comments on the performances by the young musicians and singers. To satisfy the enthusiastic request by the guests, Soprano Julia Zhu and Miss Zhang Shuai worked together to sing the popular song ‘I Love The Snow Outside The Northern Frontier’, which received rapturous applause from audience.

Before the reception concluded, a group photo was taken to record the truly memorable and pleasant time of Jan 31, 2010 from late afternoon till evening.
