On the evening of January 18, 2009, USCF held an annual reception at Suzhehui Hotel in Chaoyang District Beijing to celebrate Chinese Spring Festival. The friends of USCF, old and new, pleasantly met there and they all wished USCF would have a better tomorrow.
Many guests of honor attended this gathering, including USCF General Advisor and Honorary Chairman, former Chinese Ambassador to US Chai Zemin and his wife; former Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his wife Qin Xiaomei; all of USCF senior advisors: Qin Huasun, Jin Yongjian, Qiu Shengyun, and Hua Jinzhou; former Minister of United Front Work Department Tian Henian; Vice Chairman of the Association for Foreign Affairs Chen Yonglong, and National Administrative Bureau of News and Publishing Zhou Hongli, etc.
USCF President Larry Lee, in his opening speech, explained the achievements done by USCF in 2008, expressed his gratefulness for the great support given by the friends of USCF, and briefly introduced the guests USCF’s work arrangements in 2009.The USCF’s friends at this meeting highly praised these achievements and the launch of a series of activities related to Sino-US Culture Year to be hosted by USCF in 2009, and said that they would continue to give their support to the work of USCF
Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing hoped that USCF could achieve more in 2009, and that USCF would have a brilliant future.
During the reception, UISCF Artistic Supervisor Julia Zhu improvised on singing two songs, one is the song “Goodbye, New York” with its lyrics written by Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, another one is the popular song ‘Lasting Love’. After the performance, Minister Li told a secret that he heard this song ‘Lasting Love’sung first by Qin Xiaomei, and it was this song leading to their marriage. After this love story was told, everyone was applauding and hoped the couple –distinguished Chinese diplomats-have a good health and long-lasting love!
In the end, all friends had a group photos taken and hoped all USCF members in China and America a Happy Spring Festival!
