The Redwood Concert- A Celebration Of Sino-US Friendship featuring Julia Zhu, artistic supervisor of USCF and soprano will be held at Poly Theater in Beijing at 7:30 pm, Monday, June 25, 2007.
Soprano Julia Zhu is a graduate student instructed under Jin Tielin, president of China Conservatory of Music. She has studied western opera singing from Liang Ning, world –famous mezzo-soprano on the basis of her many years of studying and performing of Chinese traditional vocal singing, also studied in Europe and America, has created an unique singing style of combination of eastern and western vocal skills. The Redwood Concert to be held in Beijing is the same performance, which was just held successfully in the US under the same theme, has the diverse and professional features in terms of its style and singing and the following highlights:
1. Conductor of this concert, Gianluca Marciano directed at well-known theaters in Italy, Geneva, France, Moscow, and Tokyo and gave tour show in America, South Africa and Japan and acted as principal conductor.
2. Professor Shen Chuan Xing, composer of the song Redwood, will fly from Shanghai to Beijing to participate this concert and accompany Julia at the theme song of this concert –The Redwood.
3.The symphony orchestra from China Opera and Ballet Group will accompany this concert. China Foreign Culture Group and China Conservatory of Music are co-organizers and HSBC is the co-sponsors of this concert.
4.The accompanist of the first half part of this concert is well-known singer, pianist Deng Yao; the accompaniment of the second half part of this concert is performed by the symphony orchestra from China Opera and Ballet Group; director of Chinese musical works of this concert: Hong Xia from China Opera and Ballet Group.
5.Julia’s performance will include Chinese and western vocal works, songs and parts of western opera such as American musicals (Summer Time) and Chinese Traditional opera (Pingtan). This concert is a combination of eastern and western sing styles and very attractive.
This concert is a non-commercial musical event. US-China Foundation, as the organizer of this concert, will invite top officials from Chinese and American government, business leaders and musical and cultural celebrities in China and America to attend this concert.
