" The Redwood Tree - A Sino-U.S. Friendship Evening "

A Special Holiday Pre-Concert Event Reception and Press Conference

When: Thursday, December 14, 2006, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

What: The United States and China Foundation is a non-profit organization established in the United States in 1992. Its purpose is to facilitate exchanges between the United States and China in areas including politics, economics, finance, law, education, culture, media, science and technology. The Foundation also provides financial support to both Chinese and Americans engaged in research or advanced study in these disciplines. The Foundation provides assistance to individuals working in the areas of industry, business, law and finance, who are interested in promoting Sino-American friendship and relations and who are interested in enhancing exchanges in the above-mentioned areas. The Foundation also provides consulting services to U.S.-China bilateral trade companies, business associations, banks, non-government organizations and government ministries.

In December 2006 The United States and China Foundation officially open its local office in Houston, and want 
to take this opportunity to show our sincere undertaking in promoting city of Houston in China, as well as 
bridging more business and cultural activities between China and Houston. An aggressive promotion plan set for 2007 will includes: (1) The Redwood Tree Concert - presenting by Ms. Julia Zhu, a Chinese soprano with 
many prizes and honors in both U.S. and China. A join promotion with The Houston International Festival 
honoring " The People's Republic of China. " (2) U.S.-China Energy & Environmental Forum. (3) Chinese 
Language Teaching Symposium, (4) Splendid Fashions of China.

Programs: 4:30 p.m. Press Conference.

5:30 p.m. Reception, networking and " The Redwood Tree Concert " pre-event introduction, the song will sing by Ms. Julia Zhu combine with other beautiful songs of her forthcoming concert at this special holiday reception. A beautiful melody of the song HongShanShu - Redwood Tree (music composed by Professor Shen Chuan Xin) is a song of friendship between China and the United States.
