In the morning of July 15, 2005, a news conference was held for the 2005 World Model Contest co-organized by China Culture Promotion Association, US-China Foundation and L’OFFICEL Press, exclusively internet-supported by Xinhuanet.com.

The 2005 World Model Contest consists of Northern Division Contest, Eastern Division Contest, Southern Division Contest, Southwest Division Contest, Northeast Division Contest, and Northwest Division Contest in China. Initial Division Contests will be held during August till the end of October 2005. The final contest will be held on December 15, 2005 in Haikou Hainan Province. The top ten winners of the final contest will be awarded with the designation China Model. The top twenty winners of the final contest will give a tour performance around the world.
