To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the US and China, and the 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, Sino-US Forum---2009 USCF Annual Session was held officially at multi-function hall of Park Lane Hotel in NYC at 9 am, Oct 3. The forum was hosted by USCF senior advisor Chairman & CEO American Capital Markets Group, Michael F. Bianco. The host announced the congratulations sent by Director of Office of Chinese Overseas Affairs under the State Council, Ms. Li Haifeng, USCF Advisor General, First Chinese Ambassador to the US Chai Zemin, well-known pianist Lang Lang and former US President Carter, etc.
USCF President Larry lee, Zhou Yue, the Director of Chou Enlai Foundation, a grand-children generation of former Chinese Premier Chou Enlai, Mr. Zhuang Zedong, the Ping Pang Diplomacy's Initiator, first US Ambassador to China Mr. Woodcock's son – Mr. John Woodcock, and head of first non-governmental delegation, Chairman of World Chinese Weekly of North America Kong Taihe delivered speeches respectively. They reviewed the developments of Sino-US friendship and its important role plying in world peace.
, will join this grand concert. The President and the Co-founder of USCF Mr. Larry Lee said, the organizers are also honored to havei to attend this series of events. Before the concert, Mr. Cox and Ms. Chou will also give formal speeches on 2009 Annual Session of US-China Forum on Oct 3 with many others, including the first China Ambassador to the US Mr. Chai Zemin's son – Mr. Chai Yanqi, , and, and Joseph Reid, the Senior UN Ambassador, etc. President Nixon's son-in-law Mr. Edward Cox, the new Chairman of Republican Party in the State of New York arrived at the scene of the forum at midday. After having a group photo with guests attending the forum, Mr. Edward Cox gave his keynote speech at the forum. He talked about the developments and importance of Sino-US friendship. Then, well-known business leaders in China and the US delivered speeches.
The forum concluded successfully in the pleasant atmosphere of harmony and friendship.
Outstanding Sino-US Friendship Achievement Award Ceremony was held at multi-function hall of Park Lane Hotel in NYC at 6,30 pm, Oct. 3.
This award ceremony was co-hosted by USCF President Larry Lee, and US well-known movie star Ms. Kerry Brogan Outstanding Sino-US Friendship Achievement Award, Sino-US Friendship Lifetime Achievement Award, Special Sino-US Friendship Achievement Award was presented at this ceremony.
“Redwood, Sino-US Friendship Mid-autumn Festival Concert”, co-organized by The United States and China Foundation (USCF) with China International Cultural Communication Center and China Arts and Entertainment Group, was successfully held at Lincoln Center, Avery Fisher Hall in NYC at 15 pm, Oct 4.
The red wood, which was planted by former Chinese and US leaders in China, has been the symbol of Sino-US friendship since then. This concert was entitled “The Red wood” based on this story.
The 60th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China was also during 8-day national holiday, and this concert was a celebration presented for Chinese and American audience during Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival representing harvest, harmony, cheerfulness, and reunion.
Diana Corto, president of American Opera Company, acted as artistic and marketing supervisor of the concert, Zhao Xiaoou, conductor from China, directed the local orchestra in NYC ; other performers including well-known Chinese Erhu player Ma Xiaohui, soprano Julia Zhu, mezzo-soprano Zhang Wen, and American tenor Gerard Powers and American soprano Anna Vicker performed at this concert.
The concert perfectly combined Chinese classical songs such as “Jasmine”, and “The Story of spring”; Erhu solo “Sprit of Erhu” and “The Shepherdess on the Tianshan Mountains”, with popular western opera pieces such as “Carmen”, “ La Traviata ” and “Nessun dorma”, etc.
The organizers invited local choir to perform at this concert and invited American actress Kerry Brogan to host the concert in Chinese and English languages.
