The Sino-US Relation and the Place of USCF in the 21st Century
In the 21st Century, the Sino-US relation must be the most important twoway relationship in the world. The cooperation and friendship between China and US not only conform to the common interests of both countries but are also conductive to the world peace and prosperity. In recently years, the high-level leaders of the two countries visit and communicate with each other frequently, which contributes to the establishment of dialogue mechanism and strategy partnership between the two countries in the area of economy, science, environment, energy and sustainable development, etc. At this historical stage of Sino-US relation development, USCF, a non-profit organization established in the United States in 1992, has made significant contribution to the development of the relation between the US and China.

Since it was founded 17 years ago, USCF has been engaged in promoting the understanding and dialogue between the US and China people, playing the role of brige to the Sino-US relation and providing a platform for the exchange and cooperation beween the two countries in economy, culture, environmental protection and education, etc. In economic and trade field, USCF provides the specialized proposal of investment in China for the US financial firms, and on the other hand supplies enquiry service on international business invitation for China cities.; It has organized the ‘Sino-US Entrepreneurs Forum’ in order to promote China’s market economy and investment; Under its help Neusoft Group has opened up the US market and achieved obvious sales growth; the Spark Science Promotion Center in Xinyang, Henan province made an effective financing plan by USCF’s guidance; It has also established ‘US-China Real Estate Development and Management Fund’ to stimulate the twoway cooperation in real estate field. These projects include ‘Hua Jinzhou Photography Exhibition-The Light and Shade in the Eyes of a Diplomat’, ‘Tour Exhibition of Wang Shanli’s Calligraphy in the Style of Inscriptions Carved on the Stone Tablets of the Northern Wei Dynasty’, ‘Promotion Meeting for Yang Liuhong’s After Life’, ‘Red Wood Concert’, ‘Dong Feng Po Movie’, ‘Calligraphy & Painting Exhibition to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Sino-Us Diplomatic Relation’, ‘China Tour of Bridge Lounge Band’, ‘Little Artists’ Performance in US’, ‘Musical Night of New York’. Besides, It has curated and organized ‘2005 China Model’, ‘the Bright Night of Chinese Costume Culture in Five Thousand Years’, ‘Hainan International Tourism and Culture Development Forum’, etc. When it comes to environmental protection, USCF held the ‘Forum of Environmental Protection on US-China Energy &Chemical Industry’, ‘2004 Shanghai International Environmental Protection Forum’ which appeal to the enterprises and individuals to have the awareness of long-term sustainable development and moral duty. What’s more, USCF has delivered the following educational project like ‘China High School Students’ Winter Camp in Houston’, ‘International University’, ‘International Promotion Center of Chinese Language Teaching’ as well as the projects on training and internship opportunities in US; It is also the promoter of the substantial progress in the educational exchange and cooperation between Shenyang and Chicago. It is worth mentioning that USCF has provided commonweal support for some students and disadvantaged people in China .
Developing the relation between states not only depends on the governmental resources; Non-governmental organizations (NGO) tend to work in the facets ignored or untouched by governmental behavior. For instance, the Ford Fundation, the Bill&Melinda Gates Foundation and the Asian Cultural Council play the important role in certain fields. What’s similar, the projects in different area delivered by USCF as a NGO mentioned above are exactly the windows for US-China exchange and cooperation. Aiming to enhance the friendship between US and China , USCF has taken advantage of its rich resources to realize the substantial understanding and dialogue between people of these two countries. This power from folk could have positive impact on governmental policy regarding US-China relation.
In the course of 17 yeas of USCF’s growth, the US and China heads of government, political, economic and cultural senior people who participated in USCF’s events as well as USCF’s leaders and staff have together witnessed the hard working and significant contribution of this foundation.
